Blind Woman Killed By Dump Truck

MIAMI, FL — A blind woman was struck and killed by a dump truck early Monday morning. The incident occurred at 7:21 a.m. on SW 67th Avenue and SW 8th Street. Police were asking motorists to avoid the area while investigators attempt to determine what caused the incident.

"She was trying to cross the road and was struck by the dump truck," Detective Argemis Colome of the Miami-Dade Police Department told Patch. He said that the dump truck was privately owned and police were interviewing the driver.

Colome said that police were not yet releasing the name of the middle-aged woman who was killed. She died at the scene of the incident.

"Our traffic homicide is there," he said. "We're trying to see if anybody saw the incident."

In addition to Miami-Dade police, Florida Highway Patrol was also on the scene.
