MIAMI, FL -- Two people were rescued Saturday when a boat capsized off the Florida coast near Haulover Beach. No one was hurt, according to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue.

An agency spokesperson said the incident happened around 2:44 p.m. about one mile offshore.

"Along with the Coast Guard, Fireboat 21 and Ocean Rescue lifeguards arrived to the scene of the capsized vessel, where they found two people in the water.," the spokesperson said.

"The boaters were pulled out of the water and brought on board Fireboat 21 where they were assessed for any injuries," the spokesperson explained. "Uninjured, the boaters were then taken ashore."

The spokesperson added that everyone who goes boating should always wear a life jacket. It was not clear if the two people rescued on Saturday were wearing life jackets at the time.
