Boats Collide Near Miami Beach; 1 Person Injured

MIAMI BEACH, FL — One person was taken to the hospital Tuesday night after being thrown from a boat near Flagler Monument Island.

Erika Benitez of Miami-Dade Fire Rescue said two boats collided around 9 p.m. sending one person overboard.

"Based on some of the information we received, we understand that one person was ejected from one of these vessels and ended up in the water," Benitez said.

She said it was unclear what caused the vessels to collide.

"Miami-Dade Fire Rescue's fire boat was on scene with divers," she said. "These divers went in the water and they were able to locate the patient."
