1. Miami-Dade County commissioners approved a $10.6 million agreement between EAC Consulting and the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) on May 3 to design plans to replace 11 bridges of the Venetian Causeway from Miami to Miami Beach. (Miami Today)

2. The owners of popular food boat, Jay's Sandbar Food Boat, are vowing to rebuild after the vessel sunk in the waters off Fort Lauderdale on Sunday. The incident took place in the Intercoastal Waterway. No one was injured in the incident, but the owners said it was a "total loss." (NBC Miami)

3. A police-involved shooting inside of a liquor store in Hallandale Beach left a man dead, investigators said. It brought an end to a violent and disruptive chain of events that also sent an officer to the hospital. Newly released cellphone video captured the moments leading up to the moment a Hallandale Beach Police officer opened fire at Goldstar Liquors, located in a shopping plaza along East Hallandale Beach Boulevard, Saturday evening. 4. A woman on a scooter has died after she was involved in a collision with a Brightline train over the weekend in Pompano Beach, authorities confirmed on Monday. The crash occurred at 11:19 a.m. Saturday in the area of Copans Road and North Dixie Highway. (WPLG Local 10)

5. Clutch Burger will host a fundraiser for autism and the kids at Crystal Academy. That event will start at 6 p.m., on May 12, with DJ Germain donating music and Steven emceeing. Tickets are $50 and include food and drinks. There will also be an auction. (Miami's Community News)

  • Max Verstappen won the inaugural Miami Grand Prix on Sunday ahead of championship leader Charles Leclerc. The victory cut Leclerc's lead over Verstappen to 19 points in the championship, while the Monegasque's Ferrari teammate Carlos Sainz completed the podium. (CNN)
  • First-time political candidate for Broward County School Board, Allen Zeman, a Fort Lauderdale business owner and former Pentagon senior executive, says he raised $100,000 in the first month of his bid, coming in as the fundraising champion among 19 other candidates vying for six seats. He is running for the board’s District 8. (Florida Politics)
  • Government relations specialist Kevin Marino Cabrera picked up another high-profile endorsement, when Jimmy Patronis, Florida's Chief Financial Officer and Fire Marshal, endorsed his campaign for the Miami-Dade County Commission. (Florida Politics)
