1. A Brightline train slammed into an empty SUV parked in the middle of a railroad crossing in North Miami on Thursday, according to authorities. A viral video of the crash was posted online. The incident happened at Northeast 141st Street at Biscayne Boulevard. (WPLG Local 10)

2. A bacterial infection linked to eating raw oysters claimed the life of a Florida man this month at the Rustic Inn Crabhouse in Fort Lauderdale, according to news reports. The name of the deceased man was not released. Another life was claimed in Pensacola earlier in the month from the same illness. (Miami Patch)

3. A City of Miami firefighter has been relieved of duty after he was accused of making controversial remarks about police officers in a text commenting on the passing of Miami-Dade Police Officer Cesar Echaverry. The rant allegedly read, "Who cares? Another dead cop, probably against gun control..." (WSVN)

4. A Florida grand jury formed after the 2018 Parkland shooting has recommended that Gov. Ron DeSantis remove four members of the Broward County school board from office, saying they and district administrators displayed "deceit, malfeasance, misfeasance, neglect of duty and incompetence" in their handling of a campus safety program. They outlined the issues in a 122-page report. (NBC Miami)

5. City of Miami has terminated its lease with the Virginia Key Outdoor Center. They have until September 13 to vacate. Owner, Esther Alonso, believes it is no coincidence that her lease was terminated after she voiced opposition to the controversial Virginia Key homeless encampment plan. (NBC Miami)
