Car Plunges Into Biscayne Bay; Woman Dies

A motorist died Wednesday after her car plunged into Biscayne Bay.

BAY HARBOR ISLANDS, FL — A woman died Wednesday after her car plunged into Biscayne Bay.

A spokesperson for Miami-Dade Fire Rescue told Patch the call came in at 10:44 a.m. The car entered the water near 103rd Street and W Broadview Drive.

"No other patients were found," the fire rescue spokesperson said.

The driver was airlifted to Aventura Hospital but she did not survive, according to Detective Chris Thomas of the Miami-Dade Police Department.

Thomas told Patch that Bay Harbor police were already in the process of checking on the woman when her car was discovered in the bay.
