Dolphins Cancer Challenge Takes Over Miami
Now in its 8th year, the Dolphins Cancer Challenge holds the distinction of being the NFL's single largest fundraiser.

MIAMI, FL — No matter where you looked on Saturday, the Miami Dolphins Cancer Challenge seemed to be everywhere. From the cyclists who departed Hard Rock Stadium in the pre-sunlight hours, to the streets of downtown Miami and Miami Beach, it seemed as though the annual event was larger than life because it was. Now in its eighth year, the Cancer Challenge holds the distinction of being the NFL's single largest fundraiser of any of the 32 teams.
This year the Dolphins brought in the Goo Goo Dolls for an afternoon concert that also featured Big Head Todd and The Monsters.
“We’re proud to have more than 250 survivors among our largest turnout of participants in our eight-year history," explained Dolphins Senior Vice President Jennifer Jehn, who served as director of the event. “Each and every dollar raised makes a difference, going directly to Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center for innovative research and targeted therapies. Today was amazing to see the South Florida community come together to tackle cancer.”

The event drew more than 4,000 cancer fighters who biked, ran, walked and volunteered throughout South Florida. Even a real life Florida gator showed up.

“Our gratitude goes out to everyone involved in the DCC, from the Dolphins to the donors, volunteers and each and every participant,” said Dr. Stephen D. Nimer of the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. “We are all partners in this fight to find new cures. The impact of this event and everyone’s commitment cannot be overstated.”
