MIAMI, FL — Miami-Dade police will be stopping cars Friday night into Saturday morning at a DUI checkpoint.

Detective Angel Rodriguez of the Miami-Dade Police Department said officers will set up the checkpoint at SW 72 Street and SW 107 Avenue from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m.

Unlike the rolling saturation patrols, DUI checkpoints operate in a fixed location for a set number of hours. Vehicles are pulled over based on a formula that might be as simple as selecting 15 consecutive vehicles after each 10-minute period.
