CUTLER BAY, FL — The FBI is asking for the public's help in solving the slaying of a 31-year-old Cutler Bay man, who was killed during a home invasion back in November.

Special Agent Michael Leverock and spokesman Jim Marshall of the FBI in Miami said the home invasion took place at 11:12 p.m. on Nov. 5 at SW 222 Street and SW 99 Avenue.

Daniel J. Macko was pronounced dead at the scene after being shot several times. His wife and an acquaintance were there at the time but were not injured.

"The victim, Daniel J. Macko, 31, was home with his wife and an acquaintance when a Dodge Ram van was noticed parked near their driveway," Leverock and Marshall said. "Macko’s wife left the residence to run an errand, and upon her return while still outside, she was rushed by several subjects who emerged from the van."

The FBI said Macko opened the door to see what was happening and was shot.

"The subjects then entered and ransacked the residence looking for something. They departed only after announcing that they had found 'it,'" according to Leverock and Marshall.

The Miami Dade Police Department and the FBI are working together on the investigation.
