Flood Watch Issued For South Florida

The National Weather Service issued a flood watch Wednesday for all of South Florida. The watch will be in effect through 8 a.m. Friday.

MIAMI, FL — The National Weather Service issued a flood watch Wednesday for all of South Florida. The watch will be in effect through 8 a.m. Friday.

Larry Kelly of the National Weather Service said South Florida can expect "scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms" over the next few days. He said to expect increased tropical moisture across the area with ongoing rainfall and saturated soils.

"Additional rounds of showers and storms will be capable of producing heavy rainfall, with high rainfall rates that may lead to flooding," Kelly said.

There is a possibility that rainfall amounts will be lower in some places, particularly in the southeast areas of the region, Kelly added.
