Florida Coronavirus Update: 423,855 Cases, 5,854 Deaths
The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Florida rose to 423,855 Sunday from 414,511 cases a day earlier.

TALLAHASSEE, FL — The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Florida rose to 423,855 Sunday from 414,511 cases a day earlier as Florida health officials reported 9,344 new cases of the virus over that one-day period.
The death toll in Florida from the coronavirus climbed to 5,854 Sunday from 5,777 a day earlier. State health officials reported another 118 non-Florida residents who died in the state from the coronavirus. A county-by-county breakdown of each of the deaths, and when they were counted by state health officials, can be found here.
Florida health officials reported 77 new deaths in the state on Sunday, three days after Florida set a new record for its deadliest day with 173 reported deaths.

Twenty-one of Florida's 67 counties reported new deaths Sunday. The daily total compares with 124 new deaths Saturday, 135 new deaths Friday, 173 new deaths Thursday, 140 new deaths reported Wednesday (health officials reported 139), 134 new deaths reported Tuesday, 119 new deaths reported Monday (health officials reported 90 new deaths) and 87 new deaths last Sunday.
Miami-Dade County reported nine new deaths. Palm Beach County reported three new deaths. Neighboring Broward County reported 25 new deaths. Those three counties are considered the epicenter of Florida's outbreak.

Hillsborough County reported 15 new deaths. Escambia County reported four new deaths. Pasco County reported three new deaths.
Alachua County reported two new deaths as did Indian River County and Volusia County.
Duval County reported one new death as did Hardee County, Hendry County, Hernando County, Lake County, Marion County, Martin County, Pinellas County, Polk County, Seminole County, St. Lucie County and Walton County.
Florida reported a 12.5 percent positive test rate for the virus Sunday as the number of tests reached 3,391,133.
Health officials reported 24,064 hospitalizations from 23,730 over the previous 24 hours. That represents an increase of 334 more hospitalizations than reported a day earlier.
Miami-Dade, which includes Miami and Miami Beach, reported 104,755cases of the virus. Nearby Broward County, which includes Fort Lauderdale, reported 49,350 cases. Palm Beach County, which includes Palm Beach, West Palm and Boca Raton, reported 30,325 cases.
Hillsborough County, which includes Tampa, reported 27,077 cases. Orange County, which includes Orlando, reported 26,980 cases.
