MIAMI BEACH, FL -- GoFundMe pages have been established for the families of a Pompano Beach couple and a 28-year-old Fort Lauderdale woman killed in a horrific South Beach boat crash over the holiday weekend not far from the spot where Miami Marlins pitching great José Fernández lost his life in 2016.

"This was the worst day of my life," penned Ron McCord in a GoFundMe set up to pay funeral expenses and raise money for the family of his wife, 28-year-old Jennifer Y Munoz Cadavid, whose body washed ashore Monday following a search that began Saturday night when the 32-foot Cape Horn boat she was a passenger on crashed into the south side of the north jetty at Government Cut. The couple who died in the crash was identified as 56-year-old Christopher Colgan and 38-year-old Elisaine Colgan, who would have celebrated her 39th birthday on Sunday. They are survived by a 16-year-old son, Chris Colgan, Jr.

"Mr. Chris and Mrs. Elis were of open arms to everyone that was put in their path," wrote a family friend who organized another GoFundMe. "A couple that was truly in love, some of the kindest people so many locals have ever met. A variety of Chris’s friends are looking for ways to raise money for all the costs and worries him and his family are looking at. Anything helps, please spread the word and thank you."

A fourth person aboard the boat, 37-year-old Troy Forte of Juno Beach, was rescued from the crash and taken to Ryder Trauma Center of Jackson Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.

McCord said he found out that his wife was missing and presumed dead in a phone call from police.

"This contrasts greatly to the best days of my life when I met Jenny in December of 2008 at a friend's barbecue. Jenny was my everything, she was my best friend for 11 years and my wife for five," he said, adding that she worked at Padrino's Restaurant and loved to spend time with her French bulldog, Nicki.

"All of Jenny's family lives in Colombia. Jenny also was helping her youngest brother, Kevin, with his university tuition," he said. "In addition, Jenny would help her family with living expenses at critical times, often taking double shifts at her restaurant to help out."

According to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, first responders received a call around 9:21 p.m. Saturday of an overturned vessel that had possibly struck the jetty near Government Cut.

Miami-Dade Fire Boats 73 and 21 both responded along with a Miami-Dade helicopter unit. Divers from the fire boats made multiple dives to look for Y Munoz Cadavid.
