1. Miami's Urban Development Review Board has rejected a 60-story mixed-use residential tower proposed for Edgewater in a rare move. Concerns included planned traffic and pedestrian circulation of the proposed skyscraper. (Miami Today)
2. City of Doral has co-designated part of Northwest 114th Avenue as Nicky Langesfeld Place, one of the 98 people killed in the Surfside condo collapse, to honor her memory. Doral Mayor Juan Carlos Bermudez attended the ceremony for the renaming on Wednesday. (WSVN)
3. A woman was fatally struck by a Tri-Rail train in Hialeah during a crash that was reported early Wednesday morning. Hialeah police are investigating the incident which occurred at 1200 Southeast 11th Avenue. (NBC Miami)
4. Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office is defending its decision to shoot and kill a black bear over the weekend amid mounting criticism from residents and state wildlife officials. "We’re not the bear police — we don’t know how to handle a bear," PBSO spokesperson Teri Barbera said. "It is our responsibility to keep the public safe." (WPLG Local 10)
5. Pembroke Pines is in desperate need of lifeguards to help keep pools open amid a shortage across the state. The city is offering free training, pay starting at $16.05 and plenty of sunshine to those interested. (CBS Miami)
