Here are the top five stories today in Miami:

1. A teacher who survived the 2018 massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School was the prosecution's first witness in Nikolas Cruz's penalty phase trial on Monday. The teacher said the mass shooting left her with post-traumatic stress disorder. (WPLG Local 10)

2. Five people were rushed to the hospital early Monday morning after carbon monoxide poisoning in Homestead. The incident happened at the 400 block of Southeast Eighth Street. The condition of those impacted is not known as this time. (WSVN)

3. An angler was bitten on the hand by a 6-foot-long lemon shark in the Florida Keys while trying to remove the hook from its mouth, according to Miami Herald. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) told the paper that the man was trying to release the shark back into the water. (Subscription: Miami Herald, Free: Miami Patch)

4. Miami Orthopaedic Society has announced a new Board of Directors and Gilbert D. Beauperthuy-Rojas, DO, FAAOS, as its new president. Dr. Beauperthuy-Rojas is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and a national and international leader in treating sports injuries and degenerative conditions of the shoulder, hip, and knee. 5. Authorities are searching for a suspect caught on camera holding a taxi driver at gunpoint in Broward County. The incident happened around 1:30 a.m. on July 4 when the driver picked up the man near the 7800 block of Southwest Eighth Street in North Lauderdale, Broward Sheriff's Office officials said.
