1. The former national chairman of the Proud Boys, Miami resident Henry "Enrique" Tarrio, has been arrested following his indictment on conspiracy and other charges related to the Insurrection of the U.S. Capitol on January 6th, 2021. The indictment says he and others conspired to "corruptly obstruct, influence, and impede an official proceeding, the certification of the Electoral College vote." (CBS Miami)
2. Gazit Horizons, the U.S. subsidiary of Tel Aviv-based Gazit Globe Group, paid $20.1 million for a Brickell retail building across the street from its proposed 504-unit apartment tower. Records show the seller is an affiliate of Miami-based Barlington Group. The real estate investment and development company was founded by Bill Fuller and Martin Pinilla in 2004. (The Real Deal)
3. Fired Ft. Lauderdale Police Chief Larry Scirotto is going over the various options on the table including seeking reinstatement. The Fort Lauderdale Black Officers Association said the report that officials used to support the firing was flawed. He believes his termination will have a chilling effect on discussions about diversity. (WPLG Local 10)
4. A fight broke out in the halls of South Florida's Horace Mann Middle School and video footage captured an adult security guard using his knee to hold down a student, at one point grabbing his neck. The security guard has been taken out of the school as officials investigate. (WSVN)
5. The former owner of a Miami day care center has accepted a plea deal in connection with the 2016 death of a 2-year-old who was left in a van for six hours. 41-year-old Karen Aviles will serve 120 days in the Miami-Dade County jail, followed by 10 years of probation. (NBC Miami)
