Here are the top five stories today in Miami:
1. Miami-Dade County Public Schools still has about 225 teaching positions to fill, according to the Miami Herald. The district hired about 400 new educators who participated in orientation in the days leading up to the new school year, according to a news release. (Miami Patch)
2. American Airlines announced the purchase of 20 Boom Supersonic Overture aircrafts on Tuesday, saying Miami to London flight would be reduced by half. The aircrafts are being designed to accommodate 65 to 80 passengers. (The Next Miami)
3. A woman, who was injured in a shooting early Sunday morning in Pompano Beach, died after crashing outside of a hospital, according to Broward County Sheriff's Office. An investigation is underway into the incident. (WSVN)
4. The Northwest 170th Street bridge is officially open and connects Hialeah and Miami Lakes in South Florida. Residents in the area have pushed for the bridge for years, especially for emergency situations. (NBC Miami)
5. Florida International University (FIU) has partnered with Blockchain.com, one of the world's most trusted and popular platforms to cryptocurrency marketplaces, to expand Web3 and cryptocurrency education at the university. Blockchain.com projects a local workforce with hundreds of employees in the next two years. (Miami's Community News)

- A city of Miami Police officer was heard making controversial remarks Monday night on police radio transmissions after a Miami-Dade Police officer was critically injured in a shootout. The Miami-Dade Police Department tweeted a response to the radio transmission saying that if the officer is one of their own that there will be consequences. (WSVN)
- Parents in Miami-Dade are are urged to check their children’s immunization records to see if they are due for any mandated school entry vaccines. Children whose parents cannot afford to pay for vaccines may receive free immunizations, under the Vaccines for Children program, which provides free vaccines at county health department centers. (Miami's Community News)
- Several South Florida fast food restaurants recently made the dirty dining list including Pizza Hut at 3396 SW 22nd Street, Burger King at 1255 Nob Hills Road in Davie, Papa John's at 19343 South Dixie Highway in Perrine, and more. (WPLG Local 10)
- Key Biscayne's Rusty Pelican is turning 50 this month and celebrating through August 19 with a special throwback menu. All proceeds from the menu will benefit the Overtown Youth Center. (Time Out Miami)
