Man Accused Of Targeting Miami Beach Bagel Shop
A 26-year-old Miami man has been accused of targeting a local bagel shop with a series of anti-Semitic phone calls.

MIAMI BEACH, FL — A 26-year-old Miami man has been accused of targeting a local bagel shop with a series of anonymous phone calls in which he allegedly made "disturbing," anti-Semitic remarks, according to Miami Beach police.
Jorge Mateo Rucinque of the 1700 block of N. Bayshore Drive, was charged with making threatening phone calls. The calls were allegedly placed on Monday to the Bagel Time Cafe at 3915 Alton Rd. See also Anti-Semitism In Florida: Report Shows No. Of Incidents In 2018
"MBPD worked diligently to ensure we located the individual responsible for these calls as quickly as possible," explained Ernesto Rodriguez of the Miami Beach Police Department in announcing the arrest.

Arrest documents said Rucinque admitted to targeting the business.
"The defendant willfully admitted how he targeted the Jewish community by searching the internet on his mobile device using key words such as 'Jews, Kosher,'" arrest documents said.

The documents said the victim believed Rucinque would cause harm to her and the business.
"Due to the defendant's statements, the victim believed that the defendant would cause harm to her and the establishment," court documents explained. "The defendant never identified himself and continued to intimidate the victim because she was Jewish."
The victim told police that Rucinque allegedly threatened: "I will explode the Jewish community."
