Man Rescued From Hialeah Cell Tower

A man climbed a Hialeah cell tower Friday and had to be rescued by first responders.

HIALEAH, FL — A man climbed a Hialeah cell tower Friday and had to be rescued by first responders. The incident happened shortly after 11 a.m. at 4596 Palm Ave.

"Once on the scene, after assessing the situation in conjunction with other agencies, the technical rescue team determined they had to send a crew up to perform a rope rescue," explained a spokesperson for Miami-Dade Fire Rescue.

The spokesperson said that the man began to climb down from the cell tower as first responders began climbing up.

First responders became concerned.

"A new plan was quickly drawn by the team," the spokesperson said. "A platform truck on scene stretched and elevated its platform in order to reach the individual and safely bring the patient down to safety."

Officials said the man was taken to an area hospital by the Hialeah Fire Department for evaluation.

"Today’s rescue was made possible by the seamless coordination of all agencies involved," the spokesperson added.
