It's finally going to happen on Friday, when Panthers play Rangers (apnews.com) — Miami is hosting Florida’s first-ever outdoor NHL game Friday at loanDepot Park, where the Panthers will face the New York Rangers before a sold-out crowd. Crews have been cooling and building the rink inside the Marlins’ stadium, timing the setup with an unusual local cold snap to make the ice work in South Florida’s climate.
   

• Coast Guard rescues 4 boaters after vessel capsizes, starts smoking off Key West (cbsnews.com) — A Miami-based Coast Guard aircrew helped rescue four boaters whose vessel capsized and began smoking about 30 miles north of Key West, after one person radioed for help. Crews battled choppy seas and strong winds to hoist everyone to safety, and officials are using the close call to remind South Florida boaters to check weather, wear life jackets, and carry reliable communication gear.
   

• Federal judge restores deportation protections for Nicaraguans, Hondurans, Nepalis (miamiherald.com) — A new federal court ruling restores deportation protections and work permits for tens of thousands of TPS holders, including many Nicaraguans and Hondurans living in Miami and South Florida. One Miami resident is among the plaintiffs, and advocates say the decision lets local families keep working and staying together while the Trump administration likely appeals.
