Carjacking Foiled In Miami

Miami police said the suspected carjacker was armed.

MIAMI, FL — An alert Miami police officer foiled an armed carjacking in progress Wednesday morning but the suspect managed to elude police. The incident happened around 7:30 a.m.

Officer Kiara Delva of the Miami Police Department told Patch that officers launched a manhunt that included helicopter support, SWAT and K-9 units.

"There was an officer en route to an unrelated call when the officer observed what appeared to be a carjacking in progress," Delva explained. "The subject fled immediately."

Delva said the quick actions of the officer prevented the four-day sedan from being stolen.

A perimeter was established for a time on North Miami Avenue through North Miami Court between 60 Street and 62 Street.

Delva said the carjacker was armed.
