The Fish got off to an ominous start to the 2018 season from the very first pitch.

MIAMI, FL — The Marlins got off to an ominous start to the 2018 season from the very first pitch. Starting pitcher José Ureña gave up a home run to open the season against Chicago on Thursday afternoon. The Fish dropped the home opener to the Cubs by an 8-4 deficit.
At one point, Miami tied Chicago at 4 but the team was not able to take the lead. This year marks the first season under new team part owner Derek Jeter
The team made extensive changes to shed its payroll during the off season, trading home run slugger Giancarlo Stanton to Jeter's former team, the New York Yankees.
