Miami-Dade Police Officer Injured In Wrong-Way Crash

MIAMI, FL — A Miami-Dade police officer was listed in stable condition after a wrong-way driver collided with her police cruiser along State Road 874 on Friday afternoon.

The driver of the Volkswagen, who was heading north in the southbound lanes of the highway, was killed in the crash and pronounced dead on the scene, according to Detective Argemis Colome of the Miami-Dade Police Department.

The Volkswagen also collided with a Jeep that was heading south at the time of the multi-vehicle crash around 2:20 p.m. Friday, Colome said.

"Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to the scene and transported the officer and occupants of the Jeep to Jackson South Medical Center in stable condition," Colome added.
