Miami-Dade School Bus Aide Trapped After Crash With Dump Truck
A Miami-Dade school bus aide was in critical but stable condition after becoming trapped in a school bus that collided with a dump truck.

MIAMI, FL — A Miami-Dade school bus aide was in critical but stable condition Thursday after becoming trapped in a school bus that collided with a dump truck near Holmes Elementary School in Miami. No children were on the bus at the time of the crash.
Miami "Fire Rescue did an excellent job in breaking through this school bus to get him out," Officer Michael Vega of the Miami Police Department told reporters at the scene.
Jackie Calzadilla of Miami-Dade County Public Schools told Patch that the bus was on its way to pick up students and take them to Miami Beach Senior High School.

The crash occurred at the intersection of 12th Avenue and NW 67th Street around 6:20 a.m., according to Miami police.

"The driver of the school bus was transported to North Shore Hospital in stable condition," explained Officer Kiara Delva of the Miami Police Department. "The bus aide was pinned inside of the bus and Miami Fire Rescue had to utilize equipment to free him."

She said the bus aide suffered injuries to his legs and was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center.
"The occupants of the garbage truck were not injured," Delva said.
Police did not immediately say what caused the crash.
