Here are the top five stories today in Miami:
1. A North Carolina developer, Evolve Companies, has purchased property where it plans to build Evolve Wynwood. Over 200 apartment units are planned at the development. Groundbreaking is expected in the beginning of next year with a planned completion by the end of 2024. (The Next Miami, Commercial Observer)
2. Queen Elizabeth died at the age of 96 years old on Thursday. The Miami Herald took a look at when Queen Elizabeth visited South Florida in 1991. The queen met and mingled with 350 VIP guests at Vizcaya during her visit and also met with youngsters from Miami's Children Hospital. (Subscription: Miami Herald)
3. The Miami-Dade County Public Schools board voted against a measure to to recognize and observe October as LGBTQ History Month by 8-1 on Wednesday night. The only "yes" vote was from Lucia Baez-Geller, who sponsored the item. The measure passed with little controversy last year, but was controversial amid the passing of Florida's "Don't Say Gay" bill. 4. Two 12-year-olds were shot by a 16-year-old on Thursday morning while waiting for the school bus in northwest Miami-Dade, according to officials. The shooting occurred at 7:57 a.m. in the area of Northwest 109th Street and 10th Avenue. The suspect has been captured by police, but their identity has not been revealed as of Thursday evening. 5. The Miami Dolphins are offering a new tailgate option outside of Hard Rock Stadium at The Fountain Plaza Tailgate by Live Nation. Fans can enjoy food, drinks, a ride on a gondola, watch the pregame show, and more. Admission is free for those with tickets to football games and $20 for those without. (WPLG Local 10)

- A South Florida man sentenced to life in prison at age 15 is free as of last week at 55 years old. His first plan is to get a driver's license and getting a part-time job trimming trees while he looks for full-time work. (WSVN)
- British expats and other South Florida residents mourned the loss of Queen Elizabeth on Thursday. "She’s been our queen for years and gave her life up for it," said Linda Wise who runs British Corner Market. (WPLG Local 10)
- Everglades Jetport or officially the Dade-Collier Training and Transportation Airport is in planning to test unmanned urban air mobility aircrafts following a trip to Europe by Miami officials. Mayor Daniella Levin Cavai is planning to work with state, federal and local agencies to push the plan forward. (Miami Today)
