1. A firm managed by the Boymelgreen family in New York obtained a $35.5 million construction loan for the 42 Pine condo in Miami Beach. The developer launched sales on 42 Pine about a month ago and prices range from $700,000 to $4 million. (Subscription: South Florida Business Journal)
2. Over the Memorial Day weekend, dozens of flights were canceled across the country due to the bad weather including in South Florida. As of Monday morning, a total of 21 flights were canceled at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and a total of 70 flights were canceled at Miami International Airport. (WSVN)
3. Miami Gardens police are investigating a shooting that left two men injured early Monday morning. The incident happened along NW 179 Street near 28 Court shortly before 2 a.m. (CBS Miami)
4. On Thursday, a spike in coronavirus cases prompted the CDC to issue an indoor mask recommendation for Miami-Dade, Palm Beach and Broward counties in South Florida. A total of nine Florida counties are now on the list. Although the Florida Department of Health did not respond, venues are considering changing their guidance in response to changes from the CDC. 5. The Miami-Dade Beacon Council kicked off its first trade mission to Spain since 2019 to further position the area as a global business destination. The delegation spent May 22 to May 27 in Madrid and Vigo, Spain. The mission was focused on tech companies and start-ups, a growing sector in South Florida. (Miami Today)
