Miami Dolphins Present 2018 Hispanic Heritage Leadership Award

The Miami Dolphins presented its 2018 NFL Hispanic Heritage Leadership Award to SAVE Executive Director Tony Lima before Sunday's game.

MIAMI, FL — The Miami Dolphins presented the team’s 2018 NFL Hispanic Heritage Leadership Award to first generation Cuban-American Tony Lima, who is executive director of SAVE. The presentation was made before the start of Sunday’s game against the Oakland Raiders. SAVE is dedicated to fighting discrimination against the LGBTQ community.

“The vision and partnership I have experienced from the Miami Dolphins and Stephen Ross have astounded me,” said Lima ahead of the presentation by Senior Vice President Jason Jenkins of the Dolphins. “This honor is one shared by all at SAVE who work tirelessly to advocate for equal rights for persons of all sexual orientations and gender identifies. It’s built on the backs of a quarter century of activists who inspire me day in and day out to strive to make a difference in the LGBTQ community.”

The award includes a trophy and $2,000 contribution from the Miami Dolphins. SAVE is a grant recipient of the Mimi Dolphins Football United program that was created by team owner Stephen Ross and his players to strengthen and expand the team’s impact around community engagement, education and criminal justice reform.
