Miami Family Court Judge Sworn In As US Attorney
Former Miami family court Judge Ariana Fajardo Orshan started work on Tuesday as the new U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida.

MIAMI, FL — Former Miami family court Judge Ariana Fajardo Orshan started her new job as U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida on Tuesday following Senate confirmation process. She succeeds Benjamin G. Greenberg, who had served as U.S. Attorney since March 2017 after his Obama-appointed predecessor stepped down from office.
"The chief judge of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida, K. Michael Moore, administered the oath of office to Mrs. Fajardo Orshan, who was nominated by President Trump to serve as U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida on June 7, 2018," said a spokesperson for the U.S. Attorney's office in Miami.

Fajardo Orshan was confirmed by the Senate on Aug. 28.
Prior to being selected by President Trump, Fajardo Orshan served as a judge in the Eleventh Judicial Circuit Court of Florida and also as an adjunct professor at Florida International University College of Law.

She was appointed to the bench in 2012 by Florida Governor Rick Scott.
"Before becoming a judge, Mrs. Fajardo Orshan was a partner in a boutique law firm where she specialized in litigation," the spokesperson explained. "She began her legal career as an assistant State Attorney in Miami-Dade County, where she prosecuted a wide variety of crimes, specializing in narcotics and organized crime."
A native of Miami, Fajardo Orshan earned her Bachelor's degree from FIU and her law degree from Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad Law Center.
