Miami Fatal Crash Results In Traffic Detours

Miami police were asking motorists to avoid the area along NW 7 Avenue.

MIAMI, FL — One person was killed in a head-on collision and two others were hospitalized following an early morning crash on Monday. The incident occurred on NW 7 Avenue and NW 77 Street. Police said that traffic was shut down on NW 7 Avenue between NW 75 Street and 77 Court. It was not clear how long the detours would be in effect.

"Preliminary investigation appears to show that a silver Kia was traveling northbound on NW 7 Avenue and a red BMW was traveling southbound on NW 7 Avenue," according to Miami police.

Officer Michael Vega of the Miami Police Department said that the crash occurred at 5:45 a.m. He said that Miami Fire Rescue pronounced one of the victims dead on the scene.

Two other crash victims were taken to the emergency room at Jackson Memorial Hospital where they were listed in stable condition with non life-threatening injuries.

Traffic homicide detectives were on the scene of the crash for much of Monday morning. It was not clear what caused the crash.
