1. The Center for Hispanic Marketing Communication (CHMC) at Florida State University's (FSU) annual gala will be taking place on September 29 at 6:30 p.m. at The Tower Club in Fort Lauderdale. The Gala raises funds for the Felipe and Betty Anne Korzenny Endowment fund for those seeking a certificate or Master's in Hispanic and Multicultural studies at FSU. (Miami Patch)
2. Four school board members appointed by Governor Ron DeSantis in Broward County were sworn into office on Tuesday. The school board member change comes after a report on the Parkland shooting assigned blame to the school board for failing to make certain security changes. (WSVN)
3. The Miami Heat are celebrating the team's 35th anniversary with a return to the team's classic jersey first worn in 1988, according to a social media announcement made Wednesday. The retro jerseys have been worn three times over the last few decades. Fans can sign-up on the Heat website to be notified when the jerseys become available for purchase. (CBS Miami)
4. The U.S. Justice Department said Tuesday that classified documents were "likely concealed and removed" from former President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach as part of an effort to obstruct the federal investigation into the discovery of the government records. The Justice Department makes clear that the government attempted for months to recovered the documents unsuccessfully from Former President Trump. (WSVN)
5. Rent in South Florida is still climbing but beginning to slow its steep rise, according to a new study. Rent climbed to an average of $2,841 a month in the last year, a 25% jump. The study suggests rent in South Florida is over-valued by nearly 20%. (Subscription: South Florida Business Journal)
