Miami Makes WalletHub's Short List of Best College Towns
Miami area colleges include Florida International University, University of Miami, Barry University and Miami Dade College among others.

MIAMI, FL — With easy access to year-round beaches, sizzling nightlife and even a turnover chain, it's no wonder why Miami would make the short list of WalletHub's 2019 Best Large College Cities in America.
The Magic City ranked seventh among large cities on the list released Tuesday by the personal finance website. Miami ranked 16th overall.

"To help college-bound high school seniors determine their future home for the next several years, WalletHub compared more than 400 U.S. cities – also grouped by city size – based on 30 key indicators of academic, social and economic growth potential," according to WalletHub. "The data set ranges from cost of living to quality of higher education to crime rate."
Miami area colleges include Florida International University, University of Miami, Barry University, Nova Southeastern University and Miami Dade College among others.

Miami ranked 14th for nightlife options per person, 93rd for quality of higher education, 94th for city accessibility, 35th for percentage of rental units and 87th for cost.
"Experts have argued that a school’s geographical location is just as important as a strong curriculum and supportive school environment to a student’s academic success and personal development," the website penned. "As student living expenses can reach up to $26,200 for a 12-month period, students should try to find the most bang for their buck."
