MIAMI, FL — With opening day set for March 26 against the Philadelphia Phillies, the Miami Marlins have already pulled off their first crowd-pleasing play of the 2020 season. You might even call it an inside-the-parking-lot home run.

The Fish announced reduced parking fees and what they are describing as "free-flow parking" as an added enticement for Miamians to check out Derek Jeter's newly minted squad in person.

"New, for the 2020 season, the Miami Marlins will look to ease fans’ arrival experience to Marlins Park for Marlins games and ballpark events," team officials announced. "In partnership with Miami Parking Authority, the Marlins will become the first professional sports team to offer full on-site free-flow parking — with fans paying ahead of time or by using their mobile devices rather than stopping to pay in cash upon entry into the parking garages."

In addition to speeding up traffic into the ballpark, fans can save money by paying in advance.

Fans who prepay for parking on the Marlins website or via the MLB Ballpark app will pay $15 to park at all Marlins home games any weekday except opening day. This is a savings of $5 from last season.

Fans will also save $5 on Saturday and Sunday when they prepay, but the rate will be $20, down from $25 last season.

"Vehicles will not be validated at the entrance to parking facilities through payment collection or parking pass scan," the Marlins explained. "All vehicles will instead enter a parking garage or lot, subject to space availability, and proceed without validation at entrance to an available parking spot."

Fans who don't prepay for their parking won't get the discount, but they can use their PayByPhone app or an old-fashioned pay station inside the lobby of each parking garage.

"Vehicles in parking facilities will be validated during the event based on the registration status of each vehicle’s license plate," the Marlins said.

If your parking is somehow invalidated during the game, you will be issued a promissory note to pay up within 24 hours or the promissory note turns into a $36 parking citation from the city of Miami.
