MIAMI, FL — Police on Monday released a sketch and surveillance video of an attempted child kidnapper, who tried to take a 12-year-old girl in Miami last month.

The incident occurred around 6:04 a.m. on Friday, April 12 at NW 1st Avenue and NW 57th Street, according to officer Kiara Delva of the Miami Police Department.

"The victim, a 12-year-old female, stated that she was walking eastbound on Northwest 57th Street approaching Northwest 1st Avenue, when she was approached by an unknown black male who was crossing the street from the south side," Delva explained. "The subject attempted to ask the victim a few questions, at which point the victim proceeded to walk eastbound and ignore the subject."

Delva said the man later grabbed the girl by her hair and waist while attempting to pull her closer.

"The victim managed to break free, unharmed and run for safety," Delva said. "The subject then fled in an unknown direction."

She said investigators have exhausted the leads in the case and are asking for the public's help in finding the man.

He is believed to be 20 to 30 years of age and was last seen wearing a black T-shirt and black shorts.
