MIAMI, FL — A U.S. Postal Service worker in Miami was hospitalized on Wednesday when a car spun out of control and crashed into a mail delivery truck. The incident happened at 17th Avenue and 47th Street. Police said they were investigating conflicting accounts of the crash.
Debbie Fetterly of the U.S. Postal Service told Patch that a letter carrier was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center following the incident, which occurred shortly after 10 a.m.
Officer Michael Vega of the Miami Police Department told Patch that the black Chrysler 300 was traveling at a high rate of speed on 17th Avenue when the driver apparently lost control and hit a street light and business before striking the mail carrier's truck.

"The vehicle lost control at 46th Street, hit a light pole, hit the front of a business that’s located on 47th Street and continued northbound, hitting a United States Postal Service truck and injuring the driver," according to Vega. "The occupants of the Chrysler 300, a male and a female, were also transported to JMH with minor injuries."
Vega said that the man and woman in the car gave conflicting accounts of the incident.

"We still have not determined who the driver of the Chrysler 300 was due to conflicting stories," according to Vega. "She was saying that she was the driver. The evidence is not pointing to that."
Vega said that alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash. He described the postal worker's injuries as non life-threatening.
