Family members apparently did not approve of the couple dating and living together, explained Jamie Brown of the Winter Haven Police Department.
The fight took place at around 7:44 p.m. Thursday at the Summit Drive home of 18-year-old Tyrique Laskett and 18-year-old Ja'raia Farlow.

By the time police arrived, they found Laskett suffering from injuries to his head, face and upper body.
The girl's father, identified as Ora Farlow, was charged with one count of battery. His girlfriend, Shierra Spillman, was charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Shanora Farlow, identified as the girl's aunt, was charged with one count of battery.
Spillman allegedly struck Laskett during the incident and attempted to strike Laskett's sister with her vehicle as the sister ran to a neighbor's home, police said.
"The group of suspects had left the scene before authorities arrived, however were located a short distance away in a Publix parking lot and taken into custody without incident," Brown added.
Arrest documents said the fight began as soon as the couple answered the front door.
"Tyrique answered with Ja'raia. Sheirra then struck Tyrique on the left side of his head with a silver baseball bat," according to arrest documents. "Both Sheirra and Ora began grabbing Ja'raia, pulling her outside with them against her will. Ora began to physically batter Tyrique all over his body against his will while still pulling at Ja'raia, trying to get her into a vehicle."
Court documents also said the aunt jumped out of the vehicle once the fight began on the porch and she allegedly struck Tyrique in the stomach.
"While the fighting was occurring, Quatisha (mother) went into her vehicle that
had her 12-year-old son inside, and retrieved a black Glock handgun," court documents said. "She then pointed it at Tyrique against his will along with multiple others putting him
in fear."
