A wind advisory has been issued for Miami and South Florida Friday as forecasters also warned of a high risk of rip currents.

MIAMI, FL — A wind advisory has been issued for Miami and South Florida Friday as forecasters also warned of a high risk of rip currents along Atlantic and Gulf beaches. The advisory will remain in effect until 1 a.m. Saturday.
"Strong west to southwest winds will continue through this evening, with gusts of 40-50 mph possible," explained meteorologist Sean Miller of the National Weather Service in Miami.

Miller said that winds are expected to begin decreasing on Friday night.
"Coastal flooding and beach erosion remain possible along the Gulf coast today, especially during high tides," Miller added.
