1. Police have arrested a man who they say opened fire during an argument inside of a Publix supermarket in Coral Gables. It left another man dead. Fifty-one-year-old Osmel Lugo Gutierrez is charged with murder and is being held without bond. (WSVN)

2. Last week, a longtime cryptocurrency investor and businessman paid the equivalent of $7 million dollars in USD Coin for a unit in Downtown Miami. It is Miami's second-largest crypto closing to date. The transaction was completed using "USD Coin,” a form of cryptocurrency known as a "stable coin.” (Miami's Community News)

3. The Miami Dolphins have officially named the next head coach as Mike McDaniel, the outgoing San Francisco 49ers offensive coordinator. He is a Yale graduate who played wide receiver for the Bulldogs. McDaniel has also spent time with the Denver Broncos, Houston Texans, Washington Football Team and Cleveland Browns. (NBC Miami)

4. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics report released February 2nd showed that the Miami-Miami Beach-Kendall area had an unemployment rate of just 1.4% in December 2021. It is the lowest of any other BLS division in the United States. (The Next Miami)

5. Miami-Dade County leaders are calling for a probe after seniors have said their political party affiliation was changed from Democrat to Republican without authorization. The Miami-Dade County Supervisor of Elections Office told the media outlet that one woman's party affiliation had been changed in November by a third party. (Miami Patch)

  • The Hispanic Branch Library of Miami-Dade Public Library System has been part of the Little Havana neighborhood for more than four decades. When the current location opened in 2010, it became the first library in the county to be part of a public housing development. (Facebook)
  • During National School Counseling Week, Miami-Dade County Public Schools is celebrating Miami-Dade County Public Schools counselors and its impact on helping students achieve success and create a prosperous future. (Facebook)
  • Miami-Dade College will provide low-income, elderly and non-English speaking residents with free tax preparation services at various campuses until April 13th. Appointments are required. (Twitter)
  • Last week, Miami-Dade BCC voted to repeal a portion of a county ordinance protecting peafowl. The legislation sponsored by Raquel Regalado allows cities to opt out of the county ordinance, as long as they create a humane mitigation plan. (Twitter)
  • The developer of the proposed monorail between Miami and Miami Beach has increased the cost by nearly double to what one county official calls unaffordable, according to the Herald. The new estimate is over $1 billion. (Twitter)
