1. U.S. President Joe Biden will visit Broward County next week as part of a planned trip to Florida, the White House announced on Wednesday. The President will stop in Fort Lauderdale Tuesday to discuss health care costs, Medicare, and Social Security and then head to Orlando. (CBS Miami)
2. Miami-Dade police are investigating a fatal shooting that happened Tuesday evening. Police say the shooting was reported near Northwest 152nd Street and North Miami Avenue. The victim in the shooting has been identified at 18-year-old Jude Merisier. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact police or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers. (WPLG Local 10)
3. Several Democratic leaders and Venezuelan activists joined in South Florida's Doral on Thursday to attack Gov. Ron DeSantis for funding flights sending Venezuelan migrants from Texas to Martha's Vineyard with funds from Florida taxpayers. State Senator Jason Pizzo, who represents part of Miami-Dade County, is planning to sue DeSantis to block him from spending any more taxpayer money on migrant flights and claims the governor broke the law when he funded the flights. 4. Prosecutors dropped manslaughter charges on Thursday against three nurses present when 12 nursing home patients suffered fatal overheating five years ago after Hurricane Irma knocked out power to a facility's air conditioning in Fort Lauderdale. Prosecutors did not drop charges against the home's administrator, Jorge Carballo. Prosecutors said the nurses will testify against Caraballo. (WSVN)
5. Coral Gables Art Cinema is planning to offer at least one screening per week in October where patrons can set the ticket price, with no conditions or minimum amount required. The promotion is meant to draw community members to the cinema. The promotion will include documentaries, regional premieres, and independent films for the first time. (Time Out Miami)
