Missing Mom's Disappearance Called 'Very, Very Mysterious' By FBI
The disappearance of a 21-year-old mother the day after she arrived in South Florida was described as "very, very mysterious" by the FBI.

MIRAMAR, FL — The disappearance of a 21-year-old mother the day after she arrived in South Florida was called "very, very mysterious" Thursday by the FBI's special agent in charge of the Miami field office weeks after the woman's two-year-old son, Kamdyn, was found wandering alone in a South Florida apartment complex.
Leila Cavett, whose Facebook page said she worked at Dunkin at one time and lived in Atlanta, has been spotted multiple times around South Florida since she arrived on July 25, according to Special Agent in Charge George L. Piro, who said Cavett's white pickup was found unattended on July 28 in Hollywood, Florida.
Her sisters and mother identified the child when they traveled from Alabama to South Florida shortly after Cavett's disappearance.

"Leila’s separation from her son is completely out of character. Her family and others in our community are very concerned about her safety and well-being," Piro told reporters. "Thanks to our community, Kamdyn is safe and being cared for."

Cavett is described as 5 feet 4 inches tall and 120 pounds. "Leila has her son’s name, 'Kamdyn,' tattooed on her right inner arm and a “Jesus fish” tattooed on her right wrist," Piro said.

The FBI said Cavett spent time in Hollywood, Florida; Miramar, Florida and Fort Lauderdale based on the investigation, which turned up security images from a Race Trac gas station during the afternoon of July 25 and again later that night with her child, hours before the child was discovered outside the Edge Apartments in Miramar on the following morning.
"At this point, we're not necessarily ready to reveal all of the information that we have, but we're looking at every possibility and we're looking at every angle from our investigative efforts," Piro said.
The FBI also released a map showing the areas where Cavett's mobile phone was detected around Fort Lauderdale. The map shows she traveled along the Fort Lauderdale coast.

"For those that are visitors to our community they do tend to visit a number of areas within our community," Piro said. "There's so much to do within South Florida, so it's not necessarily unusual."
Piro said the agency has received a number of tips on the case but he thinks there are more people who have information.
"We believe some people who are familiar with the circumstances surrounding Leila’s disappearance remain in our community, while some have left the area," Piro said. "For those who have already been interviewed, we thank you for your cooperation, as we may be asking for your help again."
The security images show Cavett getting in and out of a Lexus sedan around 3 p.m. on July 25 at the Race Trac gas station along Hollywood Boulevard.
"Oftentimes members of the community have information of value, but do not come forward with the information because of a belief that it may not be important," Piro said. "Regardless of how insignificant you think your information might be, or whether you think we already are aware of it, I urge you to come forward, even anonymously, and allow the FBI to make that determination."
Piro said there has been no contact with Cavett since she went missing. He said investigators believe she traveled to Florida by herself with the child.
"I will tell you our goal and focus right now is to reunite Leila with Kamdyn," Piro added.
