OPA-LOCKA, FL — A woman was killed Wednesday night when she was struck by a hit-and-run driver in Opa-Locka, according to Miami-Dade police.

Detective Lee Cowart of the agency said the incident occurred at 9:45 p.m. at NW 135 Street and NW 30 Avenue. Opa-Locka police were the first on the scene.

"Upon OLPD officers arrival, they discovered what appeared to be an adult female victim that had been struck by a vehicle," Cowart said.

The woman was pronounced dead on the scene by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue personnel. "The driver of the vehicle did not stop or render aid to the victim," according to Cowart.

The investigation is being conducted by Miami-Dade Police Department Traffic Homicide detectives.
