1. South Florida may be out of the cone for Hurricane Ian, but that isn't stopping residents from preparing with sandbags for potential flooding that may come from rain connected to the storm. Even a regular rainy day can cause flooding throughout the area. (WSVN, CBS Miami)

2. A Pembroke Pines firefighter, 62-year-old Donald Francis Hoss, is now facing charges after police said he was found with cocaine and other drugs in Miami Beach. Hoss was arrested Sunday and is facing drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia charges. Eight marijuana gummies, cocaine, and 10 suspected Ecstasy pills were found in Hoss' vehicle, according to a police report. (NBC Miami)

3. Zoo Miami will close on Tuesday and Wednesday in anticipation of rain and winds from Hurricane Ian, despite not being inside the cone for the storm. The zoo says it will work to ensure all animals are taken care of on the property. If there is no damage, they hope to reopen the zoo on Thursday. (CBS Miami)

4. Benise is returning to Miami-Dade County Auditorium (MDCA) on Saturday, Oct. 8 at 8 p.m., with a production of "Spanish Nights." Tickets are now available. The show will feature various styles including Flamenco, Cuban Salsa, Brazilian Samba, and more. (Miami's Community News)

5. Pembroke Park is scrambling to secure police access before its contract expires on Saturday with Broward Sheriff's Office (BSO). If the contract expires, BSO deputies will only respond to emergency calls and the town of around 6,000 will be left with no police force. A potential deal with Miramar has not been successful.
