1. Democrat Val Demings of Orange County is hoping to face well-known South Florida resident Senator Marco Rubio in the general election. A recent polls says 48% of respondents indicated they would vote for Demings, while 44% said they supported Rubio and 7% plan to vote for other candidates. (Florida Patch)

2. Udonis Haslem will be back for a 20th and final season with the Miami Heat. The news was met with with cheers in person and online from social media users. Haslem now ranks in the Top 10 for the most NBA seasons played. (Miami New Times)

3. Miami Police Officer Jeffrey Jose Marcano, 32, was the subject of an internal affairs investigation when he was arrested for DUI and possession of cocaine, early Sunday morning. Marcano was being secretly watched by investigators with Miami Police’s Anti-Corruption Unit when the incident occurred. (WSVN)

4. Miami-Dade Schools Police arrested two students last week on accusations they brought a weapon on campus at Miami Edison Senior High School. Sources say the weapon in question was a gun. The students accused are under the age of 18. (WPLG Local 10)

5. A demolition is underway at a sales center next to the Aston Martin Residences site in downtown Miami, according to Ryan RC Rea. The residences have almost all been sold. It will be replaced by a water feature and baywalk. (The Next Miami)

  • Chicago's Aba restaurant is opening in Miami's Bal Harbour Shops. It is the product of Top Chef alumni CJ Jacobson, executive partner Marc Jacobs and, Chicago-based hospitality group Lettuce Entertain You. (Time Out)
