1. U.S. Rep. Carlos Gimenez's son, Carlos Gimenez Jr., was charged with simple battery after slapping Miami city commissioner Alex Diaz De La Portilla at Coral Gables restaurant, Morton's Steakhouse, Wednesday afternoon. Portilla tweeted, "it was more like a flick of his wrist from behind me when I was having lunch as he cowardly approached me from behind and ran away. This guy is not known as a very courageous guy." 2. In a unanimous vote, the Surfside commission passed an ordinance to make 30 year building inspections a requirement. The move comes after the tragic Surfside collapse at Chaplain Towers South left dozens dead. (CBS Miami)
3. Local Miami Artist Danny Brito is claiming Chinese retailer Shein stole his vinyl sticker design. Brito said it wasn't the first time his designs were "ripped off by factories in China." Brito decided to bring the fight to social media when Shein failed to respond to him. (Miami New Times)
4. Kenneth Parkerson, 40, was arrested Wednesday night after he was caught standing on the back patio of a home in Coral Springs and using his cellphone to record the homeowners inside, according to authorities. Coral Springs Police said Parkerson is well-known to officers from similar incidents that occurred recently. (WPLG Local 10)
5. Miami Beach officials failed to reach an agreement on a plan to ban alcohol sales after 2 a.m. across the city, leaving bar, restaurant and nightclub owners waiting for the new prohibition. Nearly 57% of November voters said yes to a non-binding question asking officials to change the last call for citywide alcohol sales. (The Real Deal)
