Brawl At Kids' Pool Forces Cruise Ship To Return To FL Port: Reports

A Royal Caribbean cruise had to return to a Miami port after an argument reportedly escalated into a brawl that injured two people.

MIAMI, FL — Two people were recently injured during a brawl on a Royal Caribbean cruise, sending the ship back to PortMiami, media reports say.

The Wonder of the Seas cruise ship was initially not supposed to return to Florida until Friday; however, WTVJ reported the watercraft headed back to the dock on Monday after a fight that evening.

The brawl was the result of an argument between passengers around 6:45 p.m., People reported. By 8:30 p.m., the ship was reportedly back in Miami and responding deputies were boarding.

A witness on the cruise ship told WPLG they saw people running to the pool area and the children’s pool was then roped off.

“A verbal dispute ensued between patrons, which became physical,” the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office said in a statement obtained by the Daily Mail. “The captain of the ship decided to return to port and contact authorities.

“Both individuals were transported to a local hospital for minor injuries,” police said.

The passengers involved did not press charges.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue also responded for a medical call, WTVJ reported.

"Our team provided medical care to adult guests who were involved in an altercation onboard, and the guests are being treated for their injuries," Royal Caribbean said in a statement to WTVJ.

The four-day cruise on the Wonder of the Seas was bound for Nassau and Coco Cay, both in the Bahamas, according to Cruise Mapper.
