1. City of Miami Fire Rescue units responded to a fire scene on the corner of Southwest 27th Avenue and 12th Street at around 6 a.m. on Sunday. The building consists of the restaurant Porto Alegre on the ground floor and three residential units on the top floor. Six adults were displaced. (WSVN)

2. An anti-war rally took place at Bayfront Park in downtown Miami on Saturday. Ukrainian-Americans, city leaders, and people from different backgrounds called for an end to the Russian invasion in Ukraine. Attendees also asked for tougher sanctions on Russia from Washington D.C. (WPLG Local 10)

3. Residents at The Hammocks met this past weekend to discuss a plan and collect money to pay a lawyer after their Homeowner's Association (HOA) raised fees by 400%. The group also received guidance and support from District 11 board member, Christian Cevallos. So far the group has raised about 70% of the $100,000 they need to start the legal process and plans to fight back. (NBC Miami)

4. Florida International University's Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine more than doubled its application pool for future physicians last semester and is already at 6,700 applicants this year, with the period still going. The school has not decided how many students will be admitted this fall yet. (Miami Today)

5. Bank of America in Miami-Dade and Broward counties recently announced a $120,000 combined donation worth 1,080,000 meals to Feeding South Florida to address food insecurity in the region. It is estimated that 1 in 9 people in South Florida are food insecure, with over 700,000 people not knowing where they will get their next meal, according to Feeding South Florida. The pandemic made food insecurity worse in the region. (Miami's Community News)

  • About 350 Haitian migrants were spotted near a gated community in Key Largo. Over 160 of them jumped overboard and came ashore, according to CBP agents and the U.S. Coast Guard. The migrants have been taken into custody. (WSVN)
