Here are the top five stories in Miami today:
1. Berwyn, Pennsylvania-based LCOR has plans for a 540-unit apartment tower in Miami’s growing Arts & Entertainment District. LCOR bought 1.1 acres of land at 1775 Biscayne Boulevard on the border of Miami's Edgewater neighborhood. (The Real Deal)
2. Miami-Dade Officials are urging the public to prepare as as hurricane season begins. Residents can take advantage of the sales tax holiday on storm supplies, which is running now through June 10. This year, in addition to not paying a tax on items like generators and batteries, pet food and supplies are also tax free. (NBC Miami)
3. A South Florida art dealer is facing charges related to an art fraud scheme in which he's accused of marketing and selling works he claimed were made by prominent artists. Daniel Eli Bouaziz made his first appearance before a federal judge on Friday after being charged with mail fraud, wire fraud and money laundering in connection with the scheme, according to a release. (Miami Patch)
4. Flood insurance rates are expected to soar for thousands of South Floridians as hurricane season begins and many are re-classified by FEMA as living in flood zones. "For example West Palm Beach had their maps changed, now all of a sudden, a lot of homes are in a flood zone," said Luis Gazitua, Partner of JAG Insurance Group. (CBS Miami)
5. A 24-year-old shooting suspect from Texas is facing charges in the attempted murder of a 44-year-old barber in North Miami. Pierson Joseph, of Houston, was arrested on Tuesday in Miami Gardens, records show. (WPLG Local 10)

- 16,899,327 passengers arrived or departed Miami International Airport (MIA) between January and April, as travel rebounds from the pandemic. MIA's passenger count was 92% higher than the same period in 2021. (The Next Miami)
- A planned November 1 start of Tri-Rail passenger trips at MiamiCentral Station is no longer feasible, Executive Director Steven Abrams told the South Florida Transportation Regional Authority on Friday. (Miami Today)
