Following an investigation that included the FBI, two students were charged with making threats against Miami Springs Middle School.

MIAMI SPRINGS, FL — Following an investigation by federal and local law enforcement organizations, two teenagers were charged Friday with allegedly making threats against Miami Springs Middle School. Their names were being withheld because of their ages, but officials said they were students. One was 13 and the other was 14.

"Officers followed up on leads, examined forensic evidence, and secured confessions from both individuals," according to the Miami-Dade Schools Police Department.

The first threat was posted Sunday night, according to Local 10 News which aired a copy of both posts:

The second post came a day later from the same account but was even more alarming.

"All of Miami Springs Middle School kids are gonna die when I shoot up the school!" the post threatened, according to Local 10.

The two students were each charged with disruption of a school function and multiple counts of written threats to kill or do bodily injury. They were taken to the Juvenile Assessment Center of Miami-Dade County for processing.

The FBI in Miami assisted local police in investigating the school threats, according to Special Agent Michael D. Leverock of the FBI Miami Field Office.

"MDSPD is dedicated to providing a safe and secure learning environment for all students. They champion the 'See Something, Say Something' program, which encourages students, staff, parents and the community to report possible threats of any kind," said a spokesperson for the school police.

"In addition, they employ a zero-tolerance stance when dealing with cyberthreats, or any other threat to its school community," the spokesperson added. "Any perceived threat is thoroughly investigated."

Jackie Calzadilla of Miami-Dade County Public Schools previously told Patch that there had been a heightened police presence at the school since the threats were made.
