Super Bowl LIV Weekend: Arrest Counts By City, County

MIAMI, FL — While Super Bowl LIV brought big crowds to the Miami area, the years of planning — and the multi-agency coordination of federal, state, county and municipal law enforcement agencies — apparently paid off when it came to keeping the public safe.

Police from the areas most affected by the big game and related events — Miami-Dade County, Miami, Miami Beach and Miami Gardens — reported no major incidents over the peak three-day period leading up to Sunday though officers around Hard Rock stadium told Patch there were incidents of people having their pricey Super Bowl tickets stolen and people who had to be turned away at the gate with phony tickets. "We didn't see anything out of the norm on preliminary findings," Detective Chris Thomas of the Miami-Dade Police Department told Patch on Monday. "It didn't seem like there were any increases in arrests from last weekend to this weekend."

Thomas attributed the absence of serious incidents to the close coordination among multiple law enforcement agencies and the people who live in the county.

"That's a testament to the citizens of Miami-Dade County behaving themselves, and conducting themselves well," Thomas said.

The following arrest numbers do not reflect the number of incidents that were related specifically to Super Bowl events, but represent the overall number of arrests.

Here are the preliminary arrest numbers from Thursday to Saturday based on data collected by the Miami-Dade Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation:

Thursday, Jan. 30:

Miami Police Department: 19 arrests
Miami Beach Police Department: 14 arrests
Miami-Dade Police Department: 48 arrests
Miami Gardens Police Department: 6 arrests
