1. Tri-Rail says that trains will be rolling in downtown Miami by November. However, a report from the county's Office of the Inspector General says a realistic date for the start of Tri-Rail revenue service on the Downtown Miami Link is still early 2023. (Miami Today)
2. A South Florida teacher is accused of having sex with a former student two years ago in the closet of the middle school classroom where he taught, authorities said. 41-year-old Daniel Heath Norment of Jupiter was arrested Tuesday and charged with sexual activity with a minor and a sex offense against a student by an authority figure, according to Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office online booking records. 3. Some loved ones of the victims of the Surfside condo collapse said they are too deep in mourning to contemplate the nearly $1 billion settlement their attorneys negotiated on their behalf. The developers of Eighty Seven Park continue to insist their building was constructed safely and played no part in the collapse. (WSVN, Patch Miami)
4. The Formula 1 Crypto.com Miami Grand Prix made its inaugural debut this past weekend in Miami Gardens, and enjoyed the prestige attached to hosting such a race on the F1 circuit. With a viewership of more 400 million worldwide, F1 racing is the third most-watched sporting event on the globe behind the Olympics and the World Cup. (The Miami Times)
5. Four Broward County schools are ranked among the top schools in the nation. According to the 2022 edition of U.S. News & World Report’s Best High Schools, Pompano Beach High School and William T. - Shoplifters allegedly set a fire at a Fort Lauderdale Target as diversion on Wednesday night. Investigators said multiple shoplifters fled the store with items that weren't paid for. (WSVN)
