1. Mexican telenovela star Pablo Lyle has been convicted of manslaughter in a road rage trial against him by a South Florida jury after nearly five hours of deliberation. Lyle could face up to 15 years in state prison over the conviction. (WSVN)

2. A jury has ruled against a former top University of Miami (UM) medical official, Jonathan β€œJack” Lord, who accused former UM president Donna Shalala of firing him in retaliation for ordering an investigation into alleged excessive billing at an organ-testing lab. The university claimed he was fired due to his "conduct on the medical school campus" and the jury agreed. (Subscription: Miami Herald)

3. Miami City Commissioner Joe Carollo is facing a trial from Little Havana business partners Martin Pinilla and Bill Fuller for alleged "abuse-of-power" after the U.S. Supreme Court denied a review to the case. Carollo and his lawyers also tried unsuccessfully to have the case dismissed using "qualified and legislative immunity" as a shield but was denied by federal courts. (Miami New Times)

4. A South Florida woman was hospitalized after being stabbed while riding her bicycle early Tuesday morning in Fort Lauderdale, according to police. It happened near the 1200 block of Northwest 15th Terrace. Anyone with information in the incident is asked to contact Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS. (NBC Miami)

5. A developer has filed plans for an 8-story project in Wynwood called "The Rider." The project would feature 130 apartment-hotel units, 6,439 square feet of retail space, a rooftop pool for residents, a rooftop restaurant open to the public, and more. (The Next Miami)

  • The City of Miami has decided not to renew its lease for the historic Tower Theater Miami with Miami Dade College. The school has run the historic theater for the last 20 years and the decision was met with protests from the arts community. (NBC Miami)
  • Kevin Marino Cabrera has received the endorsement of West Miami Mayor Eric Diaz-Padron. Cabrera has received a number of endorsements in recent weeks including from Miami's Community News. (Miami's Community News)
  • Miami-Dade Public Library System shared: "The young crafty crafters at the Coral Reef Branch Library celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month by making mini piΓ±atas out of recycled cereal boxes and colorful streamers!" (Miami-Dade Public Library System via Facebook)
