Toddler Killed In Valentine's Day Flower Stand Crash

HOMESTEAD, FL — Criminal charges were pending Saturday against the driver of a Dodge Charger that crashed into a Valentine's Day flower stand on Friday afternoon, killing a Miami-Dade Toddler, according to Lt. Alex Camacho of the Florida Highway Patrol.

Two-year-old Anthony DeLeon was pronounced dead at Kendall Regional Hospital following the 12:50 p.m. crash along Highway U.S. 1, north of SW 304 Street.

FHP said 42-year-old Hanskabell Amargos lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the flower stand just off the highway.

The car "traveled into a private parking lot located east of U.S. 1" where it struck the child, Florida Highway Patrol said.

Amargos and his 27-year-old passenger, Litney Castro, were not injured in the crash.
